List of Google Scholarships for Africa

Google is currently sponsoring scholarships for africans studing in computer and IT related fields. The scholarship programmes gives preference to female students.
Google is committed to supporting the education of the future leaders and innovators in technology and business all over the world, including those who are historically underrepresented in these fields. We believe in attracting all top talent to Google, regardless of identity or background. To date, we have awarded over $8.8 million in scholarship funds to more than 2,100 Google Scholars.
Our scholarship programs are aimed especially at supporting students’ technical education, with an emphasis in computer science. For example, the Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship - named in memory of Anita Borg who passionately envisioned increasing the number of women in computer science - is aimed at supporting the education of talented young women pursuing careers in computer science. Scholarships For Africa:
As part of Google’s ongoing commitment to advancing computing and technology, we are pleased to provide scholarships to encourage students to excel in their studies and become active role models and leaders. We hope these programmes also help in dismantling barriers that keep women and minorities from entering computing and technology fields.
We currently offer the following scholarship programmes:
1.) Conference and Travel Scholarships
The Google Europe, Middle East and Africa region (EMEA) offers funding for female students and professionals to attend regional conferences to help increase the number of underrepresented computer scientists in conference communities.
2.) Google Anita Borg Scholarship:
The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Anita Borg and herefforts to encourage women to pursue careers in computer science and technology. The scholarship is offered in the United States , Europe and Africa , and Australia .
3.) Google Zawadi Africa Scholarship:
As part of our ongoing commitments to supporting education in Africa and to diversifying the engineering talent pool, we are encouraging African women to pursue careers in computer science and technology. We’ve partnered with the Zawadi Africa Educational Fund to grant five Kenyan women full scholarships to complete degrees in computer science, computer engineering and/or ICT. The Google Zawadi Scholars will pursue studies at top universities in Kenya and South Africa, and they’ll each have the support of a Google engineering mentor. Selection criteria include excellent academics, extracurricular involvement, leadership potential and financial need.
